After the initial screening, the unit or another agency providing services at the hospital, Elevate, reaches out to the patient for further screening. The unit can process applications for the entire state of Virginia and enrol patients in 51 local departments of social services.

They work closely with social workers, case managers, UVA PFS, and Elevate to get the patient approved so they can receive the medical care they need. If you are currently taking maintenance drugs for chronic conditions, you can receive a 90-day supply through the maintenance choice program with CVS or UVA pharmacies. You can opt out of this program by calling Aetna and instead obtain your prescription at any retail pharmacy for a 30-day supply.

The Aetna formulary and summary documents use new terminology, which can be found on page 4 of the Summary of Prescription Drug Benefits. Contraceptive drugs and over-the-counter preventive items mandated by the Affordable Care Act are covered at no cost to employees. Preventive drugs are also covered at no cost if you are enrolled in Health Savings.
