The partnership between LVHN and UHS aims to address this growing demand by constructing a new behavioral health hospital in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania. The new facility, named Hanover Hill Behavioral Health, will be a three-story, 97,000-square-foot building with 144 beds. It will be located on Macada Road, across from the Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Muhlenberg campus. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new hospital was held in May 2024, with an expected opening in fall 2025.

The new hospital will nearly triple the number of inpatient beds available in the Lehigh Valley, significantly enhancing LVHN's behavioral health capacity. This expansion will enable LVHN and UHS to reach and provide care for more patients suffering from mental and behavioral health issues. The hospital will incorporate innovative, evidence-based care elements to ensure maximum patient safety and positive clinical outcomes. Additionally, the project is expected to create more than 300 full-time jobs, including nurses, clinicians, therapists, technicians, and administrative staff.
