Lafayette Hospital, also known as Lafayette Hospital + Clinics, was built in 1952 and is located in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. The hospital was formerly known as Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. Lafayette General Hospital, which evolved from the Lafayette Sanitarium, was the first hospital in Lafayette. The Sanitarium was founded in 1911 by Doctors L.O. Clark, J. Franklin Mouton, and L.A. Prejean and was located on St. John Street. By the 1950s, the facilities had become inadequate, and a new hospital, Lafayette General Hospital, was built and opened in 1965. Today, Lafayette General Health is Acadiana's largest non-profit, community-owned regional health system.
