Swedish Medical Center's history
Swedish Health Services, formerly known as Swedish Medical Center, is a non-profit healthcare provider in the Seattle metropolitan area. It was founded in 1910 as Seattle's first modern non-profit medical facility by Dr Nils August Johanson, an immigrant from Sweden. In 2012, Swedish Health Services became a division of Providence Health & Services, a Catholic healthcare system.
