*Stranger Things* Season 1 ending

Stranger Things is a Netflix science fiction horror series set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The first season of the show centres around the disappearance of Will Byers, the young son of Joyce Byers, and the subsequent discovery of a government conspiracy and supernatural mystery by the residents of Hawkins.

The ending of Season 1 sees Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper, the sheriff of Hawkins, enter the Upside Down—an alternate reality—wearing hazmat suits. They find Will, revive him using CPR, and return to their dimension. Hopper is then picked up from the hospital by two men in suits driving a black car. This car and its occupants have been sent by the laboratory officials from Hawkins Lab, with whom Hopper has made a deal. The deal involves Hopper keeping the lab's secrets and, in exchange, the lab will help Hopper keep Eleven safe and away from government agents.

Hopper is bugged, drugged, and beaten by these lab agents, and he knows that they are capable of killing to clean up their mess. He gets into the car to see where things are headed and to try to gain more information about Eleven and protect the kids. This scene sets up the plot for Season 2, where we learn that Hopper is hiding Eleven and trying to keep the town of Hawkins safe from the lab's activities.

Hopper's deal with the lab

In Season 1 of Stranger Things, Police Chief Jim Hopper made a deal with Dr. Brenner of Hawkins Lab. Hopper agreed to tell Dr. Brenner where Eleven was hiding in exchange for being allowed to enter the alternate Upside Down reality and find Will Byers, who had gone missing.

Hopper had discovered a conspiracy hiding at Hawkins Lab and was instrumental in the mission to find and save Will. He had also grown close to Eleven, taking her in as his adopted daughter. After Eleven's apparent death, Hopper left food for her in the woods, including her favourite, Eggo waffles.

At the end of Season 1, Hopper is seen getting into a mysterious car outside the hospital, where he had been with Will. It is implied that the car was sent by the lab to ensure that Hopper kept his side of the deal. Hopper seems unsurprised by the car's appearance and enters without a fight, indicating that he may have been expecting it.

In Season 2, Hopper is shown to be talking to Dr. Owens about the deal he made with the lab. He agreed to "keep things quiet" and in return, the lab folks agreed to keep their "problems" out of Hawkins.

Ciaya Whetstone's death

Ciaya Whetstone, a 21-year-old college student from South Carolina, was found dead at New Orleans East Hospital on February 19, 2022. Whetstone was a student at the University of New Orleans, majoring in business.

On the morning of her death, Whetstone left her apartment and took an Uber, as confirmed by the ride-sharing company. Uber also stated that Whetstone's trip "ended without incident at the requested destination." However, New Orleans Police have not confirmed this detail or provided many other details about their investigation into her death.

Whetstone's mother, Miranda Ferrand, has publicly demanded answers and more information about the circumstances surrounding her daughter's death. She was joined by her husband, Whetstone's stepfather, Chris Ferrand, family attorneys, and lawmakers from both New Orleans and South Carolina. The local coroner's office initially gave no indication of a possible cause of death, but later ruled that Whetstone's death was an accident due to drug and alcohol intoxication. Police are examining the possibility that Whetstone ingested intoxicating substances that contributed to her death.

Eminem, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg

In 2000, 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, was attacked by a gunman outside his grandmother's former home in South Jamaica, Queens. He was shot nine times and hospitalised. While in the hospital, Jackson signed a publishing deal with Columbia Records. However, he was later dropped from the label and blacklisted by the recording industry because of his song, "Ghetto Qu'ran". Unable to work in a U.S. studio, he went to Canada and recorded over thirty songs for mixtapes to build a reputation.

Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, was hospitalised in December 2007 after an accidental methadone overdose. He had obtained the pills from a dealer who told him they were "just like Vicodin, and easier on [your] liver". Eminem used the pills until one night, he collapsed in his bathroom and was rushed to the hospital. According to Eminem, doctors told him he had ingested the equivalent of "four bags of heroin" and was "about two hours from dying" if he had not received treatment. It was revealed that Alaina, one of his daughters, found him after hearing him fall.

While it is not clear who picked Snoop Dogg up from the hospital, he has been hospitalised at least once. In 2024, Snoop Dogg's daughter was hospitalised after a severe stroke.

Dustin and Will's friendship

In the Netflix series Stranger Things, Dustin Henderson and Will Byers are part of a close-knit friend group known as "The Party". Dustin, played by Gaten Matarazzo, is a quick-witted and science-savvy problem solver for the group, while Will, played by Noah Schnapp, is more quiet and sensitive. Despite their differences, they are both considered best friends to the rest of their friends in the group, including Mike Wheeler, Eleven, Lucas Sinclair, Max Mayfield, Eddie Munson, and Steve Harrington.

However, despite their lack of interactions, Dustin and Will's friendship remains intact. In Season 3, they come together with the rest of the group to fight the Mind Flayer, and in Season 4, they reunite to combat Vecna, showcasing the enduring bond between them. While their storylines often keep them separate, they still maintain their friendship, even as Will moves away from Hawkins at the end of Season 3.
