St. Charles Bend Hospital
The hospital was first built in 1922 on "Hospital Hill" in downtown Bend. It was named after Bishop Charles Joseph O'Reilly, the first bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Baker. In 1951, a more modern facility was built on the same site. The history of St. Charles Redmond Hospital dates back to 1951 when Redmond became the first city in Oregon to form a public hospital district. The Central Oregon District Hospital was built in 1952 on 20 acres of land north of the town.
